Salvation Eggs

Play – Here’s an Easter egg dying activity to do with your family. You will need both brown and white eggs.

Hard boil six eggs (or a few extra in case some break). You will use one brown egg to dye red. Leave another brown egg as is. Use white eggs to dye in the following colors: blue, green, and yellow. Leave one white egg as is.

Talk – Discuss with your children what their favorite colors are and why they like them. Ask them what the colors remind them of. Then use the prepared eggs to explain salvation, as follows:

Brown egg: Reminds us of dirt. Explain that when we sin, our soul is dirty (Romans 3:23).

Red egg: Reminds us of Jesus’ blood. Explain that He died on the cross for our sins (John 3:16).

White egg: Reminds us of snow. Explain that this is how pure we look after we have been cleansed by Jesus (Isaiah 1:18).

Blue egg: Reminds us of water. Explain that when we decide to follow Jesus, we get baptized in water. When we go down under the water, it’s a symbol (picture) of burying our old sinful self. When we come up, it’s a symbol of being raised to new life with Jesus (Matthew 28:19, Romans 6:4-5).

Green egg: Reminds us of growth and life. Explain that the more we study the Bible, the more we grow in how much we know about Jesus. Explain that when we turn away from sin and decide to follow Him, we receive His free gift of eternal life (life without end). (2 Peter 3:18, John 3:16).

Yellow egg: Reminds us of gold. Explain that when we accept Jesus’ free gift of eternal life, we will live with Him in heaven, a city made of pure gold (Revelation 21:18).

Pray – If your child is ready to accept Jesus as Savior, pray with him/her:

Dear Jesus, I know I have sinned and deserve to be punished. I am sorry and ask for your forgiveness. Thank You for taking the punishment for my sins by dying on the cross for me. I accept Your gift of eternal life and want to follow You as my Lord and Savior. Amen.
