Play - Try this at dinner.  Prepare ahead.  Choose a simple bible verse, being mindful of reading levels of your children.  Write or type the verse, including the reference, and cut into words.  In clockwise fashion, place one word, consecutively, beneath the rim of each plate.  During the meal, ask each family member to find his word. Recite the verse, word by word, beginning with the member who has the first word.  After the recitation, have each person pass his word to the one on his left.  Recite again.  Repeat until everyone has recited each word.  Challenge family members to recite the entire verse and reference without assistance.

Play Variation - Try this at the table after a meal. Choose a simple bible verse, like “The Lord gives me strength”—Psalm 28:7a NIRV. In clockwise fashion, whisper one word of the verse, consecutively, in each person’s ear. The last person will get the reference. Recite the verse, word by word, beginning with the person who has the first word. After the recitation, have each person whisper his word to the person on his left. Recite again, using the “new” word. Repeat the process until everyone has recited each word of the verse, including the reference. Challenge family members to recite the entire verse and reference without assistance.

Talk - Discuss how we need physical food to live and soul food (God’s Word, the Bible) for life (it tells us how to live).

Pray - Dear God, thank You for giving us food for our bodies and food for our souls (Matthew 4:4).
